Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken pieces
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely grated
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons white pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Oil spray for cooking
  • Fresh basil or nori sheets (optional)
  • Hot peppers for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. 1. Combine chicken, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and salt in a bowl and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. 2. Mix the spice blend ingredients in a small bowl.
  3. 3. Coat the marinated chicken with cornstarch evenly.
  4. 4. Preheat air fryer to 350°F (176°C) and arrange chicken in a single layer.
  5. 5. Cook for 10 minutes, flip, spray with oil, increase to 400°F (200°C), and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. 6. Toss the cooked chicken with half of the spice mix and garnish with fresh herbs and hot peppers.
  7. 7. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.
