Description

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs, beaten
3 overripe bananas, mashed
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional)

Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mash the overripe bananas and stir them into the mixture until well combined. Mix in the vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the loaf tender.
6. If desired, toss the chocolate chips or chopped nuts with 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour to prevent them from sinking, then gently fold them into the batter.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
