Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel buttercream (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. 2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. 3. Add in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. 4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. 5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  6. 6. Fold in the diced apples.
  7. 7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. 8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
