Description

Ingredients

  • 1 package cheese tortellini (about 20 oz)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. 2. Add the sausage and cook until browned and fully cooked, then transfer to a plate.
  3. 3. Lower heat to medium, add minced garlic and sauté for about a minute.
  4. 4. Pour in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted.
  5. 5. Season with salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  6. 6. Boil salted water and cook the tortellini per package instructions, adding broccoli in the last 2-3 minutes. Drain.
  7. 7. Add the cooked sausage, tortellini, and broccoli to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  8. 8. Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan and black pepper.
