Instructions

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Break up the meat into a uniform mix.
  2. 2. Add breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, and the egg. Sprinkle in salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. 3. Take a small amount of the meat mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a teaspoon of mozzarella cheese in the center, then fold the meat around the cheese, ensuring it is completely enclosed. Roll into a neat ball and set aside on a tray.
  4. 4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the meatballs in batches until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. 5. Transfer the browned meatballs to a baking dish, pour marinara sauce over them, and sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until fully cooked. Let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
