Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1. Drain the tofu and press between paper towels for 15-20 minutes.
  2. 2. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch bite-sized cubes.
  3. 3. In a bowl, mix honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil to create the honey garlic sauce.
  4. 4. Coat each tofu cube in cornstarch, shaking off excess.
  5. 5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the tofu until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. 6. Remove fried tofu and drain on paper towels.
  7. 7. Lower heat to medium and add honey garlic sauce to the skillet, simmer for 1 minute.
  8. 8. Add the crispy tofu back into the skillet and toss to coat.
  9. 9. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
