Duchess Potatoes are a delightful twist on traditional mashed potatoes, featuring a fluffy texture and crispy edges with a nutty flavor from Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. 2. Peel and chop the potatoes, then boil them in salted water until tender.
  3. 3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. 4. Add butter, heavy cream, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and egg yolks, and mash until smooth.
  5. 5. Mix in the Parmesan cheese.
  6. 6. Use a piping bag to pipe the potato mixture into swirls on a baking sheet.
  7. 7. Brush with beaten egg for a golden color.
  8. 8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
