  • Potatoes
  • Butter
  • Heavy cream
  • Cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • Garlic
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Onion (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2. Thinly slice the potatoes and set them aside.
  3. 3. In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté the onions until they become translucent.
  4. 4. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. 5. Stir in heavy cream and season it with salt and pepper.
  6. 6. Layer half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish, pour half the cream mixture over, and sprinkle with cheese.
  7. 7. Add another layer of potatoes and top with the remaining cream mixture and cheese.
  8. 8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. 9. Remove the foil, add parmesan cheese if desired, and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
