Description

A warm, one-pot dinner featuring savory browned beef, tender orzo, fresh spinach, and a cheesy finish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  2. 2. Add 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it up, and cook until browned, about 6–8 minutes.
  3. 3. If needed, drain excess fat.
  4. 4. Season with 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, and salt and pepper.
  5. 5. Pour in the tomato sauce and 2 cups of water, stirring to combine.
  6. 6. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to maintain a low boil.
  7. 7. Stir in 1 cup of orzo, ensuring it is submerged in liquid, and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally.
  8. 8. Cook orzo for 8–10 minutes until al dente.
  9. 9. Add 2 cups of fresh spinach and stir until wilted.
  10. 10. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning as needed.
