Description

Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
1 cup cooked egg noodles
2 large onions, thinly sliced
1 cup beef broth
1 can (10.5 ounce) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
2 cups shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 cup crispy fried onions, for topping
1 cup sliced mushrooms, optional
1/2 cup cooked crumbled bacon, optional
1/4 cup red wine, optional, for deglazing
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch baking dish.
2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat and add onions (and mushrooms if using). Cook until soft and golden, about 8-10 minutes. Deglaze with red wine if desired.
3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until no longer pink. Drain excess fat and season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
4. In a large bowl, combine cooked egg noodles, beef mixture, beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and shredded cheese. Mix well and transfer to the baking dish.
5. Top with crispy fried onions and crumbled bacon if using. Bake uncovered for about 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
6. Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy hot!
