Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 5/8 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • For the Maple Glaze:
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, salt, and sugar.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, maple syrup, buttermilk, melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. 4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. 5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 28-32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  6. 6. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
