Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup warm water (about 105–115°F / 40–46°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. 1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow sitting for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, basil, oregano, and garlic powder.
  3. 3. Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Mix to form a shaggy dough.
  4. 4. Knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes, incorporating mozzarella and Parmesan until smooth.
  5. 5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  6. 6. Punch down the dough, shape into a loaf, and place in a greased loaf pan. Let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. 7. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and crust sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. 8. Cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
