Description

Onigirazu is a delicious Japanese dish that uses rice as bread, filled with your choice of protein and vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 4 sheets of nori (seaweed)
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cup cooked protein (like chicken, tofu, or shrimp)
  • Soy sauce or teriyaki sauce (for seasoning)
  • Optional: pickled vegetables, lettuce, or other veggies

Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare sushi rice according to package instructions and let cool slightly.
  2. 2. Place one sheet of nori shiny side down on a clean surface.
  3. 3. Scoop about half a cup of rice onto the center of the nori, using wet hands to prevent sticking.
  4. 4. Add your protein, cucumber, avocado, and other fillings in the middle of the rice.
  5. 5. Drizzle with soy sauce or teriyaki sauce for extra flavor.
  6. 6. Fold the sides of the nori over the filling, then top and bottom to seal into a square shape.
  7. 7. Press gently to hold the shape, then repeat with remaining ingredients.
