Description

A classic English comfort food, Shepherd’s Pie features seasoned ground beef and mixed vegetables topped with creamy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. 2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until softened (3-5 minutes).
  3. 3. Add ground beef and brown it, breaking it apart; drain excess fat.
  4. 4. Stir in mixed vegetables, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  5. 5. Spread the beef mixture in a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes, smoothing them out.
  6. 6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
  7. 7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
