Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups frozen shredded hash browns, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1. Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully browned. Drain excess fat from the pan and set the cooked sausage aside.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, thawed hash browns, onion, cheese, flour, eggs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is evenly distributed.
  3. 3. In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F.
  4. 4. Scoop the sausage hashbrown mixture into small balls or patties and carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes per side.
  5. 5. Remove the appetizers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
