Description

A playful mash-up of smash burgers and tacos, these easy-to-make tacos feature crispy-edged beef patties in warm tortillas, topped with your favorite fixings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4–8 tortillas (flour or corn)
  • Cheese (American, cheddar, or pepper jack, sliced or shredded)
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cooking oil (vegetable, canola, or grapeseed)
  • Desired toppings (chopped tomatoes, sliced onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, hot sauce)

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a little cooking oil.
  2. 2. Form the ground beef into small loose balls or thin patties, seasoning generously with salt and pepper.
  3. 3. Place the patties on the skillet and smash them down with a spatula to create a thin burger.
  4. 4. Cook for 3–4 minutes until browned and crispy, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. 5. Warm a tortilla in the skillet for about 20–30 seconds per side.
  6. 6. Assemble the tacos by placing the cooked burger on the tortilla and adding cheese, lettuce, and desired toppings.
  7. 7. Serve immediately while warm.
