Description

A simple and delightful Japanese rice dish that combines the flavors of soy sauce, mirin, and sesame oil for a perfect side or main meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • Optional: sliced green onions, sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. 3. Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let it simmer for 18-20 minutes or until all the water is absorbed.
  4. 4. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, and sesame oil.
  5. 5. Once the rice is done, remove it from heat and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes.
  6. 6. Fluff the rice with a fork, then drizzle the soy sauce mixture over it. Stir gently to combine.
  7. 7. Serve hot, optionally garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
